Technology Analysis Project: Internet Archive

Technology: the Internet Archive
Context: Archives and Manuscript Repositories
Audience: historians, researchers, genealogists, and other primary-source users

The Internet Archive has rapidly become one of the most significant resources for accessing primary-source material online. It currently hosts over 6 million digitized texts, 1.5 million videos, and nearly 2 million audio recordings. I propose to analyze the functionality and sustainability of the Internet Archive and to examine how archival institutions can use this site for public outreach and providing expanded user access to their collections.
