Context: As a promotional tool for libraries, specifically academic
Audience: UW Students
I'm interested in researching how libraries are now turning to Twitter to promote events and encourage social media interaction. I was particularly inspired by recent efforts at Memorial Library, especially their current #UWBookMadness event. The Book Madness event encourages students to provide their twitter handle on the book bracket, so that the library can tweet the students' progress and students can tweet about their experience. I'd love to learn more about the motivation behind this social media event and study how successful it will be. As a future children's librarian, I think it would be useful for me to learn about coordinating a large scale promotional social media event.
