Context: As a tool for communication and promotion of library resources
Audience: Teen and young adult users of public libraries
I'm interested in exploring how Instagram can be used as a tool to promote a public library's resources, events, and community partnerships directly to its YA users. I'm still just beginning to use Instagram myself, but from everything I've heard and read, it's becoming one of the main forums for young adults to communicate and pursue their interests online. I'm really interested in the idea of using images to promote events and resources, and in marketing to and engaging with YA users directly and more frequently than a blog or a print resource would allow. I'm (currently) planning to work as a Teen Services librarian in a public library, so hopefully this will lead to a social media connection that I'll be able to use in my career as well.
