Directory of Open Access Journals

In connection with the readings on the cost of publishing, I've decided to highlight the Directory of Open Access Journals. DOAJ was founded in 2003 and is managed by a team and advisory board. There is additional information available on the whos and whys through the DOAJ's "about" page. Interestingly, there are currently 9,744 journals within the directory including 5,621 which are searchable at the article level. Additionally, the 1,589,963 articles presently available derive from 133 countries and the Directory is forthcoming with the whos, whats, wheres, whens, whys, and hows of the information available via the DOAJ. I find it to be a great resource in performing research, whether the patron is at an academic library, public library, or in their home.
