  • Lee, N. (2013). Facebook Nation: total information awareness. New York, NY: Springer.
This book is not specifically geared towards libraries, but it would have a lot of information about the age of social media. It has a whole section devoted to facebook as a tool for businesses. It was also published in 2013, so the data would be relevant.
  •   Jacobson, T. (2011). “Facebook as a Library Tool Perceived and Actual Use.” College & Research Libraries vol. 72 no. 1 79-90.
This article talks about the ways that librarians hope to use Facebook as a marketing tool in their institutions as opposed to the way that Facebook is actually used by libraries. This would provide insight into the ways the librarians can improve their Facebook use to effectively advertise to patrons.
  • Tagtmeier, C. (2010). facebook vs. twitter. (Cover story). Computers In Libraries, 30(7), 6-10.
This article discusses the benefits of using Facebook versus Twitter in a library setting, as well as the disadvantages of both. It also talks about improvements that have been made to both social media networks, which would be helpful in evaluating its effectiveness.
