Final Project Idea: RFID chips

Technology: Radio Frequency Identification Chips
Context: Public and Academic Libraries
Audience: Public Library Workers and Patrons

I think the new checkouts at the Central Library are just the coolest thing; being able to just set a stack of materials on the pad and having it process in seconds is beyond awesome. RFID chips being integrated into library materials has a wealth of uses, from patron checkout to use records to sorting and I think learning about its integration will prove worthwhile. It's arguably better than the antiquated magnetic system that was in place earlier. Additionally, Madison PL - Central very recently made the switch to this system and I'm sure I'll be able to find someone who was involved closely with the changeover.
