Protecting online privacy in different parts of the world

A recent article in Deutsche Welle, Germany's international broadcaster, "Encryption: the key to online privacy" talks specifically about online privacy and protection from internet tracking. As one of solution, for people who may be more concerned about their cyber footprint and protection against secret or unauthorized surveillance in a different parts of the world, author suggests e-mail encryption. It admittedly may be difficult to set up but it’s freely available online and worth the effort for some activists in unsteady regions. The article also points to Tactical Technology’s, a digital rights and advocacy group, list of alternatives for Internet applications, such as e-mail, web browsing and instant messaging, and various multilingual instructions for using privacy-protecting online tools and services.
